I feel like such a horrible blogger!  But enough of that thought, back to business.  I have been sooooooo busy these last couple weeks that I don't know how to think straight.  Good news is I made it through Open House and I got to meet all but one of my babies yesterday.  My room was full of people and everything went better than I could have imagined.

Wanna see what all the buzz was about?  My Room!  It seems to be the "go to" room for ideas, which of course mades me do my happy dance on the inside. lol

This is what you do when you don't have bulletin boards.

 Word Wall

Focus Wall.....in the science area o_0

My color scheme was inspired by LadyBugs Teacher Files and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the colors pop against the black and how clean the room looks.  (I have more hints of the color scheme in other areas of the room....but the area was messy so you can see it later!)

Guess what I've been doing.....cutting out lamination. LOTS of lamination.  I think it's time for a cutting party.  Just bring your scissors and I'll provide the food and drinks. LOL  Can you tell what my theme is?

In other news, I officially start work on Thursday.  Meetings with the faculty, getting my class list, everyone setting up for Open House, and all the other fun stuff that comes with the start of a new school year.  I can't even begin to explain how excited (and nervous) I am for this day.  I want to get a head start on my classroom before Thursday so that I can concentrate on all the other things that I have to do.  With that being said, I'm headed to the school tomorrow so that I can finish setting up my room and shampoo the carpet.  The carpet is desperately in NEED of a good cleaning.

Are you starting school soon?  Post pics, I need inspiration! :-)

Here is my main inspiration for my room design. Check out Ladybugs Teacher Files for lots of great tips and ideas.

What. A. Day!  I had such an amazing time today at my first New Teacher Orientation session. Here's what happened.

I pulled into the school visitor parking lot EXTREMELY early and waited in my car, talked on the phone, and questioned if I was in the right location or not.  Then, as time got closer for when we were told to be present, I started following a very small crowd of people (ok, maybe it was only one or two random people) into the building.  What did I do?  I got lost!  There were no signs pointing us in the direction we needed to go so I just wandered around until I found another lost soul and then we began our journey in the "right" direction.  We register, get our goody bags and then take our place at random lunch tables.  I found a person who was also at my school and we converse.  Time flies and nothing happens.  So what is the best way to cure boredom?  That's right, Facebook!

In the mist of my Facebooking I notice herds of people leaving the cafeteria.  Now I start wondering what is going on.  This lady comes to the table and says, "Y'all can start heading toward the auditorium now!"  Yay!  I know where that is!  Thanks to my random tour of the school when I first arrived I was well aware of how to get there.  After a few doors and a couple turns I found the "line" of others who had gone before me.  Goody, more waiting.  Well I must say that the wait was well worth it.....I got my laptop!  I organize my life (which consisted of two tote bags, my purse, the computer and the charger, and my handy dandy cup) and enter the auditorium.  I found a seat, chatted with my neighbors, and listened to hours upon hours of lectures, speeches, and introductions to people whose name I'm sure to forget.

Now for the best part!

After lunch all elementary teachers had to travel to My School!  Excited am I?  Of course!  I finally get to see my room.  We had a workshop to attend but my focus was clearly on my room.  I wondered what it looked like, how big was it, how I could decorate it, and most importantly, when was I gonna finally see it.  Time was dragggggggging at such a slow pace but finally, it was time.  I walk into the room and I see this:

Panic attack, panick attack!  What do I do with all this stuff?  How do I set it up?  Where do I begin?

Here is what I have accomplished so far.

At the end of the day I was exauhsted!  Couldn't wait to put my feet up and relax.  But do I feel a sense of accomplishment?  Why, yes I do.  Am I excited for the school year ahead of me?  Yes, I am.  Will I be successfull?  Duh, of course I will!  And will I ever get this room set up?  One day, but not anytime soon!  I need to get my head together and come up with some new ideas for decorating this huge room (my walls just got repainted and we can only hang up things using this sticky, rubbery stuff) using the color scheme I have already picked out.  Will keep you posted on my progress :-)

Today is the last day of my "old" life. I graduated from college what feels like decades ago in 2008 and I'm JUST now getting my very own classroom. I start New Teacher Orientation tomorrow! Excited am I? Why yes, I must say I am. My happy dance is in FULL EFFECT right now....even though it's late and in theory I'm suppose to be sleep. My family lives in GA and I now live in NC so hopefully this blog will keep them updated on my progress and see all the fun, cool things I'm doing. Also, I hope to provide other teachers with new ideas for their classrooms. :-) As soon as I figure out how to post pictures (and get a camera), I will have all some of my projects posted and views of my classroom!

Things I'm currently working on:

  • Teacher Toolbox
  • Bulletin Boards
  • Open House
  • Organization
  • Classroom Library
  • Student Rewards Box
  • "How Do I Go Home" chart
  • and many, many, many more!
Hope you enjoy this blog as much as I am enjoying writing it.  Oh, let me tell you a little known secret........I LOVE TO TALK!  But, shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell nobody! lol
